TENS OF PEOPLE DISAPPEARING, KILLED IN TANZANIA

CLOSE to 40 people went missing, and about 10 others were arbitrarily killed in Tanzania between March 2021 and early July 2024, according to a new random list by the  Former Mayor for Ubungo, Boniface Jacob.

Through his X page, Jacob received and published information about the following people from their relatives, friends, and acquaintances.

Government forces are hostile to individuals leaking such information, as police has recently been cracking down on whistle-blowers exposing the disappearances, abductions, and killings.

Boniface Jacob, the former Mayor for Ubungo. He is facing police charges for exposing the disappearances through his online platforms.

In this first list, Jacob analyses the information and classifies it as follows:

The late Nyaisuka Chacha Mohono (21yrs) was killed by wildlife officers on March 11, 2024, after being shot at 10 AM at his home in Jerumani Hamlet, Machochwe, Serengeti. Officers arrived at the home intending to seize cattle they claimed had entered the Serengeti National Park (SENAPA)

Mairo Togoro (56), a resident of Maji moto Village, Serengeti, was shot by the police after being detained for over 24 hours in October 2023.

Police authorities have so far refrained from commenting on the list but Home Affairs Minister Hamad Masauni said, “Tanzania is safe.”
