Barack Obama is in Tanzania on a private tour with his family. MTANZANIA newspaper, in its Wednesday edition, is the only mainstream local paper that ran a story on Obama’s visit, which was later confirmed by foreign ministry officials.
The former US president and his family arrived in Tanzania on Sunday July 8th, 2018, landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) from where he was silently escorted to a secret venue in Moshi town for brief talks with a senior government official.
After the talks, the president and his family returned to KIA and flew to Sangita Gurumeti in Serengeti National Park where they are expected to spend a week enjoying one of East Africa’s best tourist attractions.
Obama first went to Tanzania in 2013 on official tour of the country following invitation by President Jakaya Kikwete. Both Obama and Kikwete are retired.
